Rosaries

The rosary has been a daily devotion of mine (Heidi) for a little while now, and I credit that time spent in prayer to really recognizing our calling into adoption.  As I grow into a deeper relationship with Mary, through the rosary, I've realized my true vocation of motherhood, and was led to follow that vocation into adopting Peter.

Knowing that we were going to need to raise funds for the adoption, I started to look around for a way that I could tie that love of the rosary to the adoption through fundraising.  Now, I'll admit, I'm not the world's most crafty person.  I love to create, and can make quite a few things, but nothing that really is a "sell-able" item, especially through an online blog.  Let me in your kitchen and I can cook you a wonderful meal......but making something to sell online isn't really something I've had much experience in.

I decided to do some research - and lots of practicing - and over that time, Mike and I learned how to make the rosaries below.   They're awesome, if I do say so myself!  Modeled after my own favourite personal rosary, they are small in size (12.5 inches long, approximately), lightweight, knotted cord and wooden bead rosaries.  They are made of small (8mm), cherry stained wooden beads, each threaded and knotted by either Mike or myself.

In addition to the small wooden rosaries, Peter's big brothers wanted to get in on the fun, and asked to make their own kid-friendly version of our rosaries.  The kid version is larger - about 18 inches in length - and has large beads, perfect for little fingers to manipulate.  They are colour-coded, and come with a "How to pray the rosary" card, explaining what prayer corresponds to each bead.   They were made by the kiddos (with some help from Mike and I), and would make awesome gifts for little ones just learning how to pray the rosary.

If you have any questions regarding the construction of these rosaries, please feel free to email me here.  Make sure to put "Rosaries for Peter" in the subject line, so it doesn't get overlooked.  Thank you!

To purchase a rosary, simply make any donation in any size (we suggest $15 to cover the cost of shipping, supplies, and time spent making the rosary) through the Paypal link under the pictures below.  In the space allowed for comments in the Paypal transaction form, make sure to specify which rosary you would like to purchase out of the three options and your email address.  I will email you back a confirmation of your order, and an expected shipping date.   FYI:  You can click on the pictures below to see them in a larger size.

We are making these rosaries to order, so expect at least a 24-hour turn-around time before your rosary is put into the mail.  Thank you for your support!
